2021 LIBERTY WALK
June 25, 2021 marked 71stAnniversary of the start of the Korean War. This year’s 6.25 Liberty Walk wasdedicated to:
The Chosin Few, 장진호용사들
On November 27, 1950, a cold wave from Siberia surrounded the Chosin Reservoir. The temperature was minus 38 degrees Fahrenheit, minus 36 degrees Celsius. It is difficult to describe in words the sacrifices of the Soldiers who were attacked by 120,000 fresh Communist Chinese troops and fought until December 13th. Frozen land, icy roads, frost bites, and even frozen guns and ammunition.
To commemorate and express our gratitude to the American soldiers, the Defenders of Freedom, who died in the Battle of the Chosin Reservoir장진호 용사들, the 6.25 Foundation’s2021 Liberty Walk was dedicated to them.
The fund raised from The Walk was presented tosix of the Chosin 장진호 용사들soldiers’ hometown elementary school libraries in their honor along with plaques.
Because of the pandemic, The Walk was not as a group. Though all apart, we walked as one remembering the fallen. The participants came from Nevada, New York, New Jersey, Vermont, California, Connecticut, Florida, Texas, Puerto Rico, Argentina, Canada, France, India, Korea and Nepal.

OUR GOAL IS 10,000 MILES!
우리의 네팔에서 경험 이야기는 이미 다들 아시지요.
3년 전 무언가 해야겠다 하고 집사람과 시작한게 6.25 재단입니다.
2021년 자유의 걸음 The Liberty Walk 에 많이 참가하고 성의금들을 보내주신 것은 기대 이상 큽니다.
부모님 생각으로 책을 쓰시며, 전쟁 때 미군에 구조된 기억을 항상 생각하시며 한 학교 맡으시겠다고 선뜩 오천불을 보내주신 분.
아빠엄마와 대한의 긍지를 기억하며 25 마일을 걷고 오십불을 보낸 두 꼬마.
아버지를 생각하며 걷고 성금 보내온 미국 친구들.
휴전선까지 걸어가 북녘땅을 본 세식구.
어디서 끝내야할지 모르는 얘기들이 가을에 수북한 잎사귀 같이 쌓이는군요.
이 해에는 새로 회원제를 만들어, 자유의 걸음 회원, 태극 회원, 또, Donors 로 구분 하였읍니다.
어느 회원이던 간에 모든 분께 감사드립니다.
펜실베이니아주 York 의 육이오 기념탑에 이렇게 적혀있읍니다.
“Called to defend
A country unknown to many
And preserve the freedom
Of a people they had never met,”
많은 사람들에게 알려지지 않은 나라를
수호하기 위하여
그리고 전혀 만나보지 못했던 민족의 자유를
지키기 위하여 부름 받았노라.
St. Louis 에는,
“TO HONOR THOSE WHO GAVE THEIR LIFES TO SAVE SOUTH KOREA FROM COMMUNISM”
앞으로 좀 더 노력하여 Corporal Richard L. Bolognani, Private Pedro A Delgado, Private Kenneth R Shadrick, Corporal Demaret Marston Kirtley 과 Idaho 외에 전사한 군인들 10을 추가하고자 희망합니다.
